Outdoor Motion Capture for Real-World Environments: Testing in Rain and Sunlight
A research team from the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) tested NOKOV outdoor motion capture cameras equipped with waterproof covers to collect object pose data under real outdoor conditions, including rain and direct sunlight. Solar irradiance reached up to 516 W/m² on sunny days.
The test demonstrated that the NOKOV outdoor motion capture system provided real-time, high-precision, and stable object pose data under the tested outdoor conditions.

How Is Outdoor Motion Capture Performed?
Outdoor motion capture requires robust tracking performance under changing environmental conditions. In the SUTD test, NOKOV motion capture cameras with AntiSun lenses and waterproof covers collected object pose data under rain and direct sunlight. The AntiSun lenses reduce optical interference caused by strong sunlight, while the waterproof covers support reliable tracking in outdoor environments.
This capability enables outdoor pose tracking applications for UAVs, UGVs, and mobile robots, providing high-precision motion data for robotics research and real-world deployment.
